Foodtropolise Session 4
The group attends Don Grepi’s party! They navigate the maze of of a mansion that he lives in and finally gets an audience with the big man himself.
Buttery Smooth Beginnings
The group enters the mahogany double doors to a large room with a marble floor. The center has a pink sea salt mermaid fountain. Flowing from the mermaid is hot melted butter. Guests would take food from the full spread tables all along the walls and dip.
The group also came across their first encounter with the pushy servants of the establishment. They where here to ensure their guests where well fed, and they would not take “I’m full” as an answer. One tried to stuff Cornelius. Thankfully, Ashe came forward and ate up all the food on his platter. Forcing him to leave back to the staff area.
Seeing 2 exits, the group opted to go for the center exit since the other was blocked by the granddaughter’s photo shoot.
The Piano Room
The next room is a den of gluttony. Fat cats sit around being fed by servants as smooth piano music plays from a grand piano on the north end of the room. On entering, the group is immediately assaulted by a group of 4 servants.
They are loaded with food, but the group is hungry for battle. One by one each servant has their platters cleared. Their exasperated french curses the last things the group hears as they rush out of the room to restock.
Making Your Dreams Come True
The next room is part spa part yoga studio. Fat cats stretch their bodies and their stomachs. An instructor oversees the operation. The only exit appears to be a large vent to the south. The group decides to split up to distract the him while they sneak off one by one.
Lulu goes in no problem. Ashe tries to do some stretches and strains herself a bit. Even so, the instructor is still impressed and feeds her a cheese wedge for her efforts. Ashe climbed into the vent soon after. Whip dives to the bottom of the pool, trying to escape him. The instructor sees this as a desire to drink the pool. Whip tries her best and does eventually soak up all the water. Brought to tears by the display of determination, the teary eyed instructor let the snake and helped the centaur get into the vent.
Gripping Audience
Don Grepi’s room is a majestic art display with a pile of silk pillows. Angela sits on a bed and snacks away. The Don sits on a large chair eating from a single platter. The moment it is empty, a servant swaps it out for a full one.
When he addresses the group, he at first puts on a hard face, but this quickly gives way to a fairly cheery demeanor. He turns away questions of business and instead gives the group a heartwarming story of how he fell in love with Abuela Chilla’s cooking as a child. His fond memories of growing up in the block the group is from and how this time implanted in him aspirations to become the great man that he is now.
Lulu is confused about the news and reminds him that he had ordered the block be destroyed. Hearing this, his cheery demeanor vanished, replaced with the cold calculating face of a hardened criminal. He explained that he has no desire to take the block down but that his paws where tied. Leonard, the mayor of Foodtropolise was threatening to throw him in jail if he did not develop the block. The mayor had caught him on tax evasion. He was also obsessed with making Foodtropolise into the biggest city in the world. In order to do this, he was strong arming any landlord who’s property did not meet his standards.
Conclusion
The group has discovered the true source of their woes. They also came up with a plan for how to deal with Leonard. They would find dirt on the lion and have Don Grepi run for office! Will the group be able to get some dirt on the mayor? Will it be enough to enable Grepi to take power? Find out… next time!
