A kobold with a magic relic that gives her freakish strength!

She is the character I play as in solo games and my primary oc. She does not have a consistent story to her as she gets moved between worlds and game systems frequently. Despite this, a few things always remain true for her.

  1. She always has a choker with a red gem around her neck. This is her magic relic and is the source of her strength. In any setting with magic (or tec so advanced as to be magic) it provides an excuse for her having abilities in the first place. These abilities are not granted freely and come with the risk of losing control. Especially in a fight.
  2. She is nomadic. She does not stay in the same place for long since her gem and strange abilities attracts the wrong kind of attention. She goes town to town working odd jobs for food and coin.
  3. She is kindhearted but naive. She is not foolish enough to be parted with her gem for any reason (this is sometimes due to the gem being magically attached to her) but is easy to deceive and trick.

Outside of these 3 constants, all else can be modified to fit the game / setting she is being put in.

Mapless Dungeons

One of the most interesting ideas that I have come across in the ttrpg scene is the idea of the mapless dungeon. The first time I heard about this more narrative form of exploration was from this video by PaladinProse. The procedure itself comes from Runehammer’s Crown and Skull system, tho it does not depend on any of the systems mechanics. This makes it possible to lift this procedure and put it in any system without issue. I later saw another implementation of this idea from the book The Perilous Wilds.

Kingmaker Session Fifteen

In this session, the group cleared out the rest of the trolls in the abandoned Dwarven Fort! The group learned the name of the Fey Queen that has had influence over a few of their past encounters. They also learned that they have a special guest waiting for them back home.

Stetson Returns With a Message

The session starts with Stetson returning from checking up on the Kingdom. All is well, however an unknown man wishes to have an audience with the group. He asked Stetson to bring the group back as soon as possible. He told Stetson to bring the group this message: “I saw the Smoke signal…”.

Brainstorming For Tables and Adventure Ideas

New and up and coming GMs can sometimes be a little worried about adventure writing. I myself am not much of a writer. I don’t make stories or even think I have the most creative mind. Ideas don’t just spring up out of nowhere.

One thing that has helped me a BUNCH is the idea of brainstorming before you get to writing. In this post, I hope to explain how to use brainstorming to help get Game Masters writing and game groups playing!

Kingmaker Session Fourteen

The Gratitude of the Lizard People!

This session started off with our marry band of misfits in the Lizard People Village. They had previously helped them with their Wispified chieftain and as a show of gratitude, the current chieftain has given the group a treasure chest!

Inside, the group found 400gp worth of treasure as well as the Blueprints for a special SpellStriking Rune!

This special rune can be engraved on a weapon to allow our magus to set off a magical explosion when he misses his spell strike. The damage is not super large, but it is a nice little consolation prize that allows Smoke to deal a little damage even if he misses his big move.

Thoughts on Playing Pathfinder 2e

Pathfinder 2e is a crunchy, high fantasy role playing system that is similar to DnD but has a more concrete rule set. The system has a lot of rules for covering almost any scenario, but at the same time is intuitive enough that most people will be able to understand it after a single session. The system is also technically free. All the rules can be read online on officially sanctioned sites. Ultimately, its a system I highly recommend for groups that want to have a limitless set of character options and a rich set of rules and systems for simulating anything that could happen in a high fantasy adventure. Keep reading to get a more in-depth overview of this fantastic system!
